Thank you and Gwen for being Caregivers! Thank you for this message--touching, kind, and a reminder that we can all be Caregivers right now--just in different ways. God Bless All who love and give!

Joyce, thank you. I think you are so right! We are all caregivers in some form and in every role we have and assume in life. To love is to care--and we can all love. Thank you for your care!

Thank you, Steve. Everything you've written here is so important to read and fully digest. Sometimes I think to be human is to commit to caring. We cannot live this life without caring for each other. We see the breakdown in society where people have stopped caring. We love you and though we're 600 miles apart, we are holding you and Gwen in our hearts. Kaylene and Jimm

I wanted to respond more specifically. I think a MUST read right now for everyone I know and who follows my work is John Phillip Newell's The Great Search. This book has helped me dig into the lives and work of nine people who shaped their world and their own souls by caring enough to care--either in the concentration death camp of Auschwitz or in their writing or more. I think this one book is the most beautiful, well written, thoroughly researched and documented book I've read in the past 25 years. I whole-heartedly recommend it to everyone. In this book Newell, traces how we do care in our humanity no matter how dire our lives become or the suffering around us. Anyone who is nervous, frightened or saddened by our political situation in the US will find great solace in this book. Kayleen, I know you and Jimm got it and are reading it. We bought the audio version as well and it's just a comfort to hear his Scottish voice reading to us in the car or at home. It has helped me so much in the catastrophic event of the hurricane and in deeper ways for our future together.

Thank you Steve for every important word you shared. Will continue in prayer for those in the midst of this devastation, and those extra special service providers who are holding the pain. Blessings

I reshared this Steve. This is such an important message to remind all of us to pray and encourage all those tireless rescuers who are working so, so hard and the emotional strain and burnout that can happen to these saints. Thanks for the reminder; this is so like you. God bless you and Gwen

Larry I so well recall conversations we had about that dentist are in the highest percentage of caring professions for suicides. Thank you for sharing

Thank you Stephen for this. I, too am reading The Great Search. And as I am learning the power of deep, slow breaths, I am becoming more aware, that yes, touching one life of someone in any kind of need amidst so many, has a rippling effect beyond what I can imagine. One life at a time, and then another and so on. Breathing deeply and slowly, one breath at a time. God, fill in the gaps.

Yes, one life at a time is my philosophy and practice. It was a huge day when I finally realized that Jesus himself shared this philosophy as well. By investing himself into 12, he helped so many to this very day.
