I’m feeling brave this morning. I don’t know exactly why. But I’m thinking it’s because I put words to a poem that has been in my heart since late September.
It was on the Camino de Blue Ridge, a hiking retreat that I led in September, when courage again mustered up inside my heart and I knew what I needed to do—right then and right there…without warning…without fanfare.
I had been thinking of being baptized again for the past few years since I read a book called, “Wild Church” and since I moved to a land where there are over 300 remarkable waterfalls.
So I did it. I got baptized again. I say again, because my first baptism was at age 5 when I had not a clue of what I was doing. My second baptism happened at 71 and I have more than a clue. I have a big reason. The reason is in my poem which you can read here.
I know, I know, I know, some of you will have problems and judgement because I did this. It’s probably best to keep those to yourself at this point. Because the greater problem would have been mine, if I did not do this at this tender age right now.
I was compelled to be baptized again. It was a holy urging rising up in me.
If you look closely at the video, you’ll see a rainbow trout leaping up the waterfall. I like to think—Jesus got a dove. I got a trout. It truly was an electrifying moment for the trout and me.
It’s all a part of my Greening.
