Unhappiness
This is a poem that speaks for itself. So, I’ll let the set-up be brief.
There is a lot of unhappiness in the world today—more than any other season of my own life it seems.
When one speaks of unhappiness, it could be good to “right-size” this words and re-examine what unhappiness actually is and what it isn’t.
It could be good to explore what specific areas of one’s life are actually “unhappy”—rather than lump all of our life into one bucket.
It could be your job—or lack of job that is the source of the unhappiness.
It could be relationships—or the lack of relationships that causes the discontent.
If you are in physical pain, then pain does not equate to happiness for sure.
We are a culture that is intolerant of unhappiness. We are a people bent on fixing—or appearing to fix the unhappy.
I wanted to take the dive into the dark waters of unhappiness to explore what I could discover. This poem helped me flesh out in words some inkings and ideas.
See what you think. I’d be so glad to hear from you on this one!
