The Celtic cross is unique. Its difference is seen and felt right away on Iona. These high crosses mark the landscape and the path of the pilgrimage. People stop and pray.

One of the old Celtic sayings is, “pray until tears come.”

I’ve been praying a lot while here.

The tears finally came today.

The poem focuses on my tears and the Celtic cross. There is never a body on a Celtic Cross. It is always formed with a circle and the vertical beam of transcendence with the horizontal beam reaching out in each direction like arms of love.
