I think I speak for most of us: Substack is requiring a learning curve to get us to. As I move along with Substack and learning more of it for myself, I know I can tell you honestly, how much I’m enjoying it. The responses are wonderful and encouraging. I appreciate your feedback so, so much. It really means the world to me to build this little place and space for us to have on-going conversations about caring for our souls in uncertain times.
On Sunday, I’ll be doing two important things. First, I’ll be preaching at our little mountain church in Brevard and I will post a Facebook link that our church uses which you could view and partipate in the service. I’d welcome you to do that.
Secondly, I’ll be posting a new poem that I’ve written this week about my own learning curve to notice, name and nuture the “burning bush” experiences we are invited to have with God in this life. This poem has had to sit; marinate and it has been re-written several times this week—just as the 12 minute homily I’m going to give tomorrow at St. Phillips Espicopal Church in Brevard. I’ve written on this journey this week and so enjoyed your comments as you’ve witnessed my struggle to say less; not more and to distill four amazing texts of Scripture into one thread that delivers one big point. We’ll see how it goes. I’d appreciate your prayers. The poem will be offered to the “paid subscribers”. Why, because as I emerge in my own poetry writing, your support expressed in this way, helps fan the flame within me to keep going; keep writing; keep improving I’m so very grateful.
You’ll all get a link tomorrow about the sermon and the opportunity to read my new poem.
Thanks for joining me on the journey!
Steve
A Feature on Substack to KNOW about—is NOTES
One of the aspects that I really, really like about Substack is a feature called, “Notes.” I want to help orient you to use my “Notes” on Substack because this is the exact place where I”m placing amazing quotes, additional references for reading on the subject I’m writing about and images that I’m using to help shed some light on varying subjects.
As you know, I’m transitioning away from Facebook and Instagram. In those two space, over the years, I was able to develop an audience of loyal “friends” who seemed to appreciate my short quotes, links to references and links to online articles for further reading.
Substack offers this ability in ‘Notes” and I’ve already been using it but realizing in the learning curve few of us are actually aware of the “Note” section.
Let me post a few images that might help you discover “Notes” and to begin to use it. You can adjust your settings in Substack to alert you when I post a new note if that interest you.
I hope this helps. If some of you think that doing a Zoom to do a little class on Substack might be of help, Pam and I can certainly plan on offering this in the upcoming weeks. Please indicate your interests in the comments.
Thanks! This is so helpful. Would love a short :) zoom class!
Definitely need help!
