I am in Greece as I write this. It’s good to have some time here to enter the culture rather than simply pass through it. But, perhaps we are all tourist when traveling through life— seeing what we can but missing much of it.

There is a slow way of living here. I am struck by the coffee drinking. Not only is the coffee good but to watch people drinking and being together has been both eye opening and soul shaping.

I wrote this poem by noticing people at a Greek cafe. I wrote this poem because there is an important life lesson that I do not want to forget. I wrote this because not only did the master philosophers emerge from Greek ways of life but now the coffee drinking offers us a truth about life— and about a way of life in America that seems lost.

I share my poems with folks and friends who support my work here arms a “ Paid Subscriber.” It’s a tangible way to say, “Steve, I believe in you and want you to write.” It’s ok if you can’t right now. If you email me at info@pottersinn.com we will add you to the paid list. No barriers!

Now, here’s my poem. I really like it and believe it has legs to stand and voice to speak to our world today!
